Product information

The Pea Coat has been around since the 18th century and has its origins in the navy. Supposedly developed and used by the Dutch in the first place. With their long tradition in naval explorations they needed a coat that could withstand the elements. The “Pije” Coat, as written in Dutch describes a coat made of sturdy wool fabric and has since then made its name into other languages and as we know it today. The Pea Coat.
Even today this durable piece of workwear is used by naval forces, because it has proven itself in rough sea life for centuries and will do so in the future.
For offering a lighter variant we have made our Pea Coat from Elephant Skin. A sturdy cotton fabric with an elegant appearance.

Our 1938 U.S. Navy Pea Coat features all characteristics as the legendary originals:
- Ulster Collar
- Double breasted
- Anchor Buttons
- Flares at hips
- outer shell 100% Cotton
-lining 100% Polyester
- Made in Portugal
